What Is Prevent? 

Prevent is about safeguarding people and communities from the threat of terrorism. Prevent is 1 of the 4 elements of CONTEST, the Government’s counter-terrorism strategy. It aims to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.

Prevent Duty Guidance - Who does it apply to?

All bodies which have significant interaction with people who could be vulnerable to radicalisation including local authorities, Police, NHS, Schools, FE & HE, Prisons, Probation Service and many more.

Channel Panel

Channel is a key part of the Prevent strategy within the governments overall counter-terrorism strategy, CONTEST. The aim of Prevent is to reduce the threat of terrorism in the UK by stopping people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. Channel is a multi-agency approach to identifying and providing support to individuals who are at risk of being drawn into terrorism. Channel is about safeguarding children and adults from being drawn into committing terrorist-related activity. It is about early intervention to protect and divert people away from the risk they face before illegality occurs.
